This month, find your new favorite greenways and parks to get outdoors and unwind in nature.
Crockett Park is the perfect spot to wander, with paved walking and biking paths, open meadows, a scenic nature trail, and a community playground. For those ready for some friendly competition, the park features lighted tennis courts and baseball fields. It also hosts a variety of popular events, including the Brentwood Summer Concert Series and the annual Fourth of July celebration at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater.

From sunrise to 9 p.m., you can explore Barfield Crescent Park’s 430 acres and its wide range of outdoor amenities. Visitors can enjoy picnic shelters, a baseball complex, seven miles of picturesque trails and a disc golf course. The park is also home to the Wilderness Station, an educational classroom where guests can learn about wildlife and meet animals including owls, hawks, snakes and more.

Pack up the family and head northeast of Columbia’s historic downtown square. Riverwalk Park offers a welcoming setting with greenways, paved walkways, pavilions, a splash pad and a basketball court. The route runs alongside the Duck River, with several water access trails branching off for visitors to relax by the river or launch a kayak.

Triple Creek Park and Gallatin Miracle Park
Triple Creek Park, Gallatin’s largest park, includes a wide range of amenities, such as sports complexes, dog parks, walking trails and playgrounds. Within the park is Gallatin’s first all-inclusive playground, Miracle Park. This space is designed for individuals who may not be able to use traditional park facilities, with nearly six acres of ADA-compliant recreation. The park is open until 11 p.m. during the summer months and until 7 p.m. in the winter.

Mill Creek Greenway at Antioch Park
This 1.8-mile greenway winds alongside a stream that begins near Nolensville and flows across southeastern Davidson County before joining the Cumberland River. Visitors can access both Antioch Community Center and Antioch Middle School from this path. Mostly flat and shaded, the trail provides a peaceful getaway for walkers.

Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Natural Area
Located in East Nashville along the Cumberland River, Shelby Bottoms Greenway spans 950 acres, extends through Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms, and includes the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center. With nearly three miles of the trail spanning the Cumberland River, this greenway showcases a landscape of bottomland hardwood forests, open fields, and wetlands and streams, creating a habitat for birds, amphibians, deer and other wildlife.

The Warner Parks: Edwin and Percy Warner
The Warner Parks, constructed in the 1930s and ’40s and named for brothers Edwin and Percy Warner, are known for their more than 60 miles of hiking and walking trails with routes that vary in length and difficulty to suit visitors of all experience levels. Percy Warner Park also features over eight miles of shaded horseback riding trails and is home to the Iroquois Steeplechase Grounds. Throughout both parks, you’ll find old-growth forest, scenic overlooks, and picnic shelters to stop and rest a while.

The Cumberland River Greenway winds along the river, offering views from a manmade levee that protects local businesses, residences, and the Ted Rhodes Golf Course and Park. A portion of the trail follows a former railroad corridor. As part of Nashville’s large greenway system, the Cumberland River Greenway helps connect neighborhoods, schools, shopping areas, the downtown area, offices, recreation areas, open spaces and other destinations throughout the city.

Sevier Park offers about 20 acres of recreational space with playgrounds, picnic shelters, walking trails, tennis courts and other sports fields. Located in 12 South, Sevier Park is steps away from local shops and restaurants in this walkable Nashville neighborhood. At the center of the park is the historic Sunnyside Mansion, originally built in 1852 as a private residence and now home to the city’s Metropolitan Historical Commission.

Two Rivers Park, a 374-acre park located in the heart of Donelson, offers more recreational activities than almost any park in Nashville. Amenities include Wave Country, one of the area’s only wave-action swimming pools, along with Two Rivers Golf Course and the historic Two Rivers Mansion, one of the earliest and best-preserved examples of Italianate houses in Middle Tennessee.

Richland Creek Greenway at McCabe Park
The Richland Creek Greenway curves along the Richland Creek in Nashville’s Sylvan Park neighborhood. The greenway has several neighborhood access points, the McCabe Community Center, baseball fields and greenway connectors to nearby shopping centers. Students from Nashville State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology campuses can also enjoy direct access to the greenway, providing the perfect studying break.

The Harpeth River Greenway features a trail along the Harpeth River, a designated State Scenic River. As one of Metro Parks’ earliest greenways, this trail segment can be accessed from Edwin Warner Park, Bellevue Exchange Club Complex, Harpeth Valley Golf Center and several other places in the surrounding neighborhood. Highlights include a boardwalk overlooking the river, making it a destination for wildflower viewing, birdwatching and enjoying local wildlife.

Centennial Park, home to Nashville’s iconic Parthenon, offers a vibrant green space in the heart of Music City. The park spans 132 acres and was established in 1903. Attracting over three million visitors each year, guests can enjoy the walking trail or take part in events like Musicians Corner, Nashville Earth Day Festival, Celebrate Nashville, Big Band Dances and Tennessee Craft.
