Matt Ligon’s connection to real estate goes back a few generations. His grandfather, father and mother were all in the industry, and from age 12, Matt grew up watching his mother work with clients.
After earning his degree in American Studies at University of Richmond, Matt decided to take a similar path and become a broker, and the family legacy continues through him and his daughter in the work they do together in Middle Tennessee real estate.
A Realtor since 1992, Matt works mainly in residential and land sales, and he also has experience in property management, commercial sales, and investment and development deals.
In 2024, he joined Bob and Marie Parks, Jenni Barnett, Danny Anderson, Scott Cornett, and Dawne Davis in launching Onward Real Estate. He is the managing broker of Onward’s Green Hills office, serving as a resource and problem solver for agents and clients alike.
Matt is a past Williamson County Association of Realtors board member and president, and he was named Realtor of the Year by the Association in 2011. His other community involvement includes being a past trustee and chairman of the board for Battle Ground Academy and past board member of Franklin Noon Rotary, Franklin Tomorrow and Heritage Foundation of Williamson County.
Matt is a native of Franklin, Tenn., and an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing and working on the farm where he lives with his wife of 31 years, Stacey. He has two children – Jessica, who works with him in the local real estate industry, and Matthew, who lives in Wyoming.
